Core Protective Measures for Core Drilling Rig in Severe Weather
Following the principles of equipment protection, personnel risk prevention and operation fault avoidance, the streamlined measures for rainy, high-temperature and frigid weather are as follows, with general guidelines attached.
1. Rainy Weather (Core: Waterproof, Anti-slip, Anti-collapse)
- Site: 3°~5° drainage slope, annular ditch; steel plates/anti-slip mats; safety belts for high-altitude work.
- Equipment: Waterproof covers for electrical parts, rain covers for power/hydraulic systems; drill tools in rain shelter.
- Drilling: Hole protector; stop drilling/seal hole in heavy rain; high-viscosity mud & real-time water return monitoring in light rain.
- Post-op: Move rig to dry area, test electrical insulation, drain small amount of hydraulic oil; derust & oil drill tools.
2. High-Temperature Weather (Core: Cooling, Anti-overload, Heatstroke Prevention)
- Equipment: Clean cooler filters, add high-temp coolant; sunshade/radiators for components; replace with No.46 high-temp hydraulic oil.
- Drilling: Reduce speed/feeding force, increase water injection; spare drill tools in shade, regular bit replacement.
- Personnel: Avoid 11:00~15:00; sunshades & heatstroke supplies, rest every 1~2h.
- Safety: Sealed cool oil storage, on-site fire extinguishers; immediate shutdown for overheating/heatstroke.
3. Frigid Weather (Core: Anti-freezing, Anti-solidification, Anti-brittle fracture)
Pre-op
- Preheat engine/hydraulic system to oil temp ≥10℃, check battery ≥12.5V & insulate;
- Replace with frigid diesel, No.32 low-freezing hydraulic oil, frigid grease; antifreeze (≤-30℃) for water tank;
- Clear ice/snow, lay gravel, reinforce rig base, insulate mud pit.
During-op
- Insulate core components; keep idling when paused, install insulated hole protector;
- No-load run 5~10mins before operation, no low-temp full load; real-time check for frost cracking/cracks;
- Full cold-proof PPE for personnel; shift ≤4h, rest for heating every 1h.
Post-op
- Drain unantifrozen water/mud, insulate core components, move rig to warm area;
- Clean/dry drill tools, coat with anti-rust/anti-freezing oil; store oil/consumables indoors.
General Operating Guidelines
- Prohibit operation & evacuate in extreme weather (rainstorm, red warning for high temp/cold wave, blizzard, etc.).
- No-load test after full protection; dedicated monitoring, immediate shutdown if abnormal.
- Prepare protective/emergency supplies in advance; trained & assessed operators only.
- Record weather, equipment status and measure implementation after operation.
